Cottonwood Winery - Artesia, NM - Wineries on Waymarking.com

While out on a road/geocaching trip from Albuquerque to Roswell, NM, we stopped to find this cache at a very unassuming place. It actually looked like a pre-fab large aluminum garage with a door on it.

After finding the cache, went in to explore and get out of the heat for awhile. The outside of the building said "WINERY" but that was it...no grape vines, just endless fields..you would have never known.

However, this was an unexpected gold mine. Now, we only drink red wine for medicinal reasons (you know, lowering cholesterol and all that) so, after sampling several different selections (yes, husband was driving), we found several new favorites.

We have done tastings throughout California and Oregon and, I must admit, while the facility wasn't anything to go by, the wine was excellent. Very flavorable and lots of different choices.

COST OF TASTING: The sign said $1.00/glass house wine & $2.00/glass name brand wine but we weren't charged a tasting fee 'cause we bought about 3 bottles and other sundry items.
