Founded in 1773, this is the nation's first and oldest museum which burnt to the ground in the late 1880's. There 'new' version of the museum was built at a different location.
We recommend a visit here, then on to the current location for a visit. The new address is, 360 Meeting St.,Charleston, SC 29403. There is a small fee to enter the new museum. The old museum is located in a small park and is open to the public (free) at all hours.
