An interesting vane on a farm near Burton-in-Kendal. The owners have several whippet type dogs just like this, but with all four legs!

The small road that runs through Clawthorpe heads over Hutton Roof - an area of uplifted limestone, great for walking. On the way it passes this farm and vane. Some fancy iron work for the cardinal points and a simple outline of a dog stands on top. It's the arrow that moves with the wind not the dog. Unfortunately the dog has lost a leg, and a rear paw.

The farm owners have several similar dogs but with all their bits! An unusual footpath starts here, going through a solid wooden gate into the yard - looks very private but it's ok to walk through.
