The beaches here were beautiful yet unsafe to swim, too many rocks and too heavy surf. Most of the day and night one can hear the pounding of the heavy surf, and in particular against the one very large rock around a quarter of a mile from the hotel...sounded like a bomb going off each time a wave hit. This section of beach lies along the Sea of Cortez, with only a few nautical miles to the Pacific. During the month of March many grey whales can be seen from the beach, and particularly when one is standing up on the hill overlooking the beaches. Extremely gorgeous area with a very pleasant temperature (at least at this time of year). Highly recommend this area as a vacation destination. There is parking at the resort, or about three quarters of a mile east of the Fiesta Grand. The walk from the resort only takes about ten minutes, yet you can see the area the entire time of the walk. There are many things to see, in particular some wonderful tidal pools during low tide. The sand is very course and loose making walking a bit difficult, but well worth the trip.
