The three-story Nature Center offers a great display floor, a library, and the third floor "Elizabeth Meirs Morgan Observation Deck", recently dedicated in honor of a very active naturalist and conservationist in Ocean County.

I happen to think this nature center is the crowning jewel of this magnificent Ocean County Park. If you can climb the three flights of stairs you will rewarded with a wonderful view from the observation deck. The nature center is located a few hundred feet from the parking lot. It is a quaint wooden structure with all manner of taxidermy displayed on the walls.
Environmental programs and classes are held regularly at Wells Mills, with experienced naturalists available to answer any questions you may have about the ecology of this area.The monthly "Full Moon Hikes" are but one of the popular events taking place here.
Look at the pictures to get a better idea of what is in store for you. The one thing you will notice right away is Smokey Bear is littered all over the place. I thought this was really neat as some of the signs were very retro.
