The 14th St. overpass is the only access road to nearby industries between the railyard and the Mississippi River. It also has a pedestrian walkway on one side for safe viewing of all the local activities. Operated by the Union Pacific, there is a maintainance shed for the engines to the South/West of this bridge (see left side of main photo.) A switch yard operates here and the switch engines often pass under the bridge. Switching seems to occur most often in the afternoon and evening on weekdays. Two Main Lines pass through with a train going one way or the other about a half-hour apart. To the North/East of the bridge, on the left, semi trucks and hopper cars of corn are unloaded for the corn processing plant. Just over the bridge at the T-intersection passes another Maine Line operated by the Iowa Chicago Eastern (ICE) Railroad. Trains on this track come through only a few times per day, but you might get lucky.
