The Isle of Arran lies in the Firth of Clyde off the west coast of Scotland. The A841 goes south out of Brodick to Lamlash. It crosses over the wooded hills, following the Strathwillan Burn up to 114m before dropping down to the coast again.

Just before the summit is a signposted car park on the west side of the road provided by the Forestry Commission. Further on is another car park and picnic area, but the view is not so good. The best view is from this first car park, looking north to Goat Fell (874m) and the other hills.

To help identify which is which, the North Ayrshire Council have provided a useful slate view indicator naming the peaks. Since it was made the foreground trees have been harvested. A bench is provided to sit and take in the vista.

This car park can also be reached by foot on a pleasant footpath from Brodick or Lamlash. Regular buses also pass this point.
