The House William Wordsworth had planned for the land next door to St.Mary's church in Rydal never materialised, as his daughter Dora died in 1847.
William later went down to the field with his sister and gardener where they planted hundreds of daffodils as a memorial to Dora.
The field is now known as Dora's field and access to it can be gained from a gate in the churchyard of St.Mary's Rydal.
The field puts on a magnificent display of daffodils in Spring and later, as the field is carpeted in bluebells in late Spring.
The field is managed by the National Trust, and admission is free. The place is always open.
