The Lake District National Park have a visitor centre on the shore of Windermere. Within the grounds is an excellent adventure playground and a handy map.

The playground is very good and includes some high slides and rope bridges. As part of their health & safety the National Park have provided a notice at the entrance. This shows where you are and where potentially useful facilities like a telephone and first aid kit are located.
Gardens, adventure playground and grounds open all year from dawn to 6pm. Exhibition, cafe and shop open daily March - November: 10am - 5pm
Entry free, P&D car parking @ £1/hour, buses stop at entrance, ferry from Ambleside to jetty.
