A high lane runs along the hill to the east of Kendal. This is a small pull-in just before the lane starts to descend. A grand view over the wall shows Kendal and the hills beyond.

A high ridge of land runs from Benson Knott to The Helm forming one side of the valley of the River Kent. A small lane runs along it - first as Hayclose Lane, then Paddy Lane. It is sometimes known as the 'Top of the World' road, although at 200m it may lack ultimate stature!
The highest spot is just by Singleton Park Farm, but trees and Singleton Park tend to block the view. The hillside is also wider here. A short way further along is a pull-in by the road. This has a much better view over the town, especially the northern end. On a clear day the hills of the Lakes form a lovely backdrop.
The lay-by is not very pretty and unfortunately it usually suffers from litter. Hopefully, the view makes up for it.
