The use of terra cotta Lion heads show the typical commericial style architecture used in the early 20th century down downtown buildings. These heads were utilized by the First National Bank of Montgomery for their 12 story building downtown in 1907 until 1978 when the bank traded hands and was completely redone inside and outside. First Alabama Bank presented these lion heads to the city to showcase the old style architecture that helped change the downtown area.
