Holy Trinity church,Seathwaite,Duddon valley. - This Old Church on Waymarking.com

The original chapel was built in the first half of the 16th century,but in 1870 the chapel was deemed to dilapidated to restore.
The church was rebuilt in it's present form and reconsecrated in 1875
The slate constructed church is famous through it's association with Revd' Robert Walker,incumbent from 1736 until his death age 92 in 1802.
He is known as "The Wonderful Walker" because of William Wordsworth's reference to him in his poem "The Excursion" and his sonnet "The river Duddon".
Next to the entrance of the church is a sundial set into a stone ,the stone is believed to be the one Walker used to sit on to clip sheep at Gatescale,a nearby farm.
