The old city gate was originally built in 1831 during the reign of Rama III. The gate has been preserved and restored nicely though today it sits in a site that allows car to drive by on either side instead of visitors passing through the gate. There's a statue of Rama III on the opposite side of the gate and the governor's house is just inside the gate. The Kwai River Bridge is within walking distance or a short ride on a tuktuk.
