This old stamping mill was situated here because of the water supply through the leat. The small tramway used to bring the ore here is still visible.
The ore was smashed to pieces by heavy hammers, the remains of the circular buddles that were used for the washing process that separated the denser pure tin particles from ordinary rock can clearly be seen.
The area was used for mining for many years but finally closed in 1914.
