The Church of St Michael's of Rampside village dates from 1840,this stands on the site of an older chapel founded in 1621,which in turn stood on the site of a Saxon burial ground.
There have been many artefacts discovered in the churchyard over the years,proving that the Vikings where here at one time.
The present cemetery at the back and sides of the church is very well maintained,the cemetery is quite large considering the isolation of the church and contains over 100 graves.
