The Holy Trinity church at Bardsea was built between 1843 and 1853.
The long delay was due to the first financier,the owner of nearby Connishead priory pulling out,until purchased by the curate and the church finally completed.

The village of Bardsea can be found 2 and a half miles SW of the town of Ulverston.
Bardsea has early connections with Furness Abbey.
Holy Trinity church dominates the surrounding landscape and makes a picturesque site when viewed from nearby Birkrigg common,the church from it's elevated position high in the village looks out across Morecambe bay.
The church was opened under licence in 1848,the churchyard being consecrated by the Bishop of Chester in 1849.
The church was consecrated Sept.5th. 1853.
