[EN] Names of illustrious persons appear on the tombstones : the general Bessières, the wife of Champollion, the canon Müller and Gustave Macon, two great Chantilly historians. On the left upon entering is the English area, with stable lads, jockeys, and trainers who established themselves at Chantilly, and a bit further, that of the Polish lancers.

The imposing neo-greek mausoleum erected by François Wells, Parisian diamond cutter (1846-1922), is immediately noticed with its pink granite columns and its sculptures. While alive, this generous donator offered financial support to schools, firemen, and municipal music. He bequeathed large sums of money to families in need and diverses associations such as the gymnastic society. He is the one who gave Chantilly the Wallace fountain which stands in the Versepuy square.

There are countless other graves in the cemetery.
