St. Paul's Church in the Rusland valley and stands in an elevated position looking out over the fells between the lakes of Coniston and Windermere. The church was built in 1745 and was restored in 1886.

The cemetery at the back of St. Pauls is well maintained and in one quiet corner is the burial place of Arthur Ransom, who died in 1975. He discovered this churchyard in the 50's and thought it to be one of the most peaceful places on earth; his wife Eugenia is also buried here.
Also buried here are several members of the Romney family. George Romney the famous Lakeland artist of the 18th century died in 1775 and is buried in St.Mary's Church of Ulverston,
