This cross is situated three miles north east of Ivybridge on Ugborough Moor. The head, which has one arm missing, is roughly oval in section, either by design or from severe weathering. It is unique on Dartmoor for it is the only cross with spurred limbs (hence the name), a form of ornamentation popular in the 14th century. These projections or bosses across the arm and top are about 40mm x 50mm wide. Despite this ornamentation it is a true guide and wayside cross being on the high moor by the North side of the ancient track from Exeter to Plymouth and at the crossing of the Blackwood Path heading North. Today this granite cross is at the junction where a path from Owley to Harford meets the more modern Two Moors way. On a fine day there are excellent views out towards South Brent and beyond.
