The light has been inactive since 1901, when it was determined that the pierhead light, built the same year, was sufficient for navigation. The Sodus Bay Historical Society maintains the property today. The 3 1/2 order Fresnel lens still occupies the tower. The tower is open to the public to climb, and a small maritime museum dedicated to the history of the station is housed within the structure. To reach the lighthouse, take NY Rt. 104 to Rt. 14 North, into the villiage of
Sodus Point. Turn left onto Ontarion Street. Follow that to the light.
