St.Paul's church stands on an elevated position overlooking the Rusland valley,the church was built in 1767 and has been restored in 1854.
In a quiet corner of the churchyard is the burial place of Arthur Ransom.

The small village of Rusland is mainly agricultural with a few farms and cottages,The church of St.Paul's stands on high ground,and overlooks the Valley with it's famous Rusland Beeches,the valley lies between Windermere and Coniston water,and can be reached from Newby Bridge.
Athur Ransome discovered the church in the late 50's and asked to be buried here,as he considered the churchyard one of the quietest places on earth.
The magnificent Eastern stained glass window of the church displays biblical scenes,whilst boards on both sides give the 10 commandments.
