The Water Pollution Control Centre is known to be highly efficient and effective in the treatment of wastewater coming from residential, industrial, commercial and institutional sources.
Because of the future growth of the City of Barrie, they are expending. The construction starts mid January 2008 and will be completed in the summer of 2010. This project is to expand the plant capacityfrom its current 54.1 Mega liters a day to 76 Mega liters a day.
The plant is occupying an area of 25.5 acres.

Describe the biological treatment technology used.: It is a tertiary treatment plant that uses ultra violet disinfection instead of chlorine to treat all sewage from the City of Barrie before sending it into Lake Simcoe.
