There are no services like a post office, shop or pub in the village, however, the village hall is busy with various groups throughout the week. The villagers have held a successful scarecrow festival in 2007.

A farm on the outskirts has a maize maze during the summer.

To provide another facility in the village it was decided to create a playground. In 2000 the Parish Council purchased a small area of land behind the village hall. This was a millennium project. Since then, further fund raising has enabled the village to install a series of playground equipment and picnic benches.

The playground is known as the Millennium Field. Good place to stop if you are walking along the Lancaster Canal.
