"The Tietê River (Portuguese: Rio Tietê) is a river in the Brazilian state of São Paulo. This highly polluted[citation needed] river runs for 700 miles before joining the Paraná River, making it around the 130th longest river in the world. Its spring is located on the municipality of Salesópolis, in Serra do Mar. Salesópolis is only 22km from the ocean, but the geography of the area forces the river to run towards the center of the continent."http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiet%C3%AA_River
