These grand gates are at the entrance to the churchyard of St Mary's. Two side gates are for everyday access, while the middle pair are saved for special occasions. Intricate iron work forms an arch with initials, date and a light on top.

The arch has W J and 1823 in the iron work. The light base has Revd Tipton cast in a small cover.
The side gates have an interesting hinge/closure mechanism. As the gate is opened it rolls up a curved slope on a wheel. When left to close, the wheel rolls back down closing the gate. The side gate has the same mechanism and is well greased. The ones on this main gate are rather 'dry' and often stand open.
