Devil's Bridge is a narrow three arch stone bridge that used to carry the road across the River Lune. In 1931 a Manchester company started work on a new bridge made of reinforced concrete just downstream. It carries the busy A65.

The main A65 crosses the Lune on the 'new' bridge just down from the medieval stone bridge. It was constructed by the Reinforced Concrete Construction Co. Ltd of Old Trafford, Manchester.
It was commissioned by Westmorland County Council (now Cumbria) and was opened by the Mayor of Kirkby Lonsdale, Oliver Stanley, on 3rd December 1932. The bridge is named for the mayor.
The bridge has an inscribed plaque commemorating the opening, plus the Westmorland coat-of-arms. At the west end is a small plaque from the construction company.
Changes in material allowed them to span the gorge with one arch rather than Devil's Bridge's three.
