Parking can be found on the Underbarrow road at N54° 19.473 W002° 47.267, in an old quarry now a car park.
Cross the road and a recently improved path leads up across the slope and onto the edge. The surface is push-chair friendly to the top.
A few hundred metres south after reaching the edge you will come across the 'mushroom' - a four-way shelter and topograph describing the view. It was built in 1912 to commemorate the coronation of King George V.
The limestone ridge rises from the east and ends in a dramatic edge with precipitous drop to the woods below. An excellent walk can be had all the way along to the Brigsteer road to the south - an alternative starting point.
The views are fantastic, especially to the west and south. A marvelous spot loved by Kendal residents and visitors alike.
