Statues were brought from China aboard boats and used as ballast. Marco was the first European to visit Thailand so it's fitting that his likeness be represented in the most famous Wat in Bangkok. Much of the sculpture and treasures in this Wat came from China so it seems that the intrepid explorer of the Orient be represented here.
