This bench mark is cut into the DCP boundary stone at the most North Eastern boundary point of old enclosed land once used by Dartmoor prison for the prison farm. This is one of a number of stones marking the land that was leased and used by Dartmoor prison. DCP stands for Director of Convict Prisons.
The bench mark is shown on the 1890 O/S map of Devon with a spot height of 1534.8ft above The Newlyn Datum.
THIS CACHE IS SITUATED JUST WITHIN THE MERRIVALE LIVE FIRING RANGE AND CAN ONLY BE ACCESSED WHEN THE MILITARY ARE NOT FIRING PLEASE RESEARCH THE BELOW SITE BEFORE VENTURING OUT TO THIS CACHE.
