The planetarium first opened in the fall of 1977. It is a wing off of the main administration building for the Chemeketa Community College District, and is literally across the hall from the board of trustees chambers. There is no direct access from the outside to the planetarium; one has to enter the building, and make an immediate sharp right. The facility has a 35 foot dome, seats 60 and uses a classic style star projector in the center.

Hours of Operation:
Fridays @ 7:30 p.m., 1st Wednesday of month the Night Sky 45 club (Salem Astronomy group) meets @ 7:00 p.m., otherwise as necessary for classes.
