The Carnegie Public Library in in Clarksdale was built using a $10,000 grant received in 1912. The library opened April 1, 1914. In 1970 the library was expanded. Originally when the new expansion was added the intent was the demolish the original Carnegie funded library however due to a shortage of funds the old library was retained and connected to the new expansion.
