The Infants School is across the road from another Victorian school. Both have been turned into private houses. The infants school has some very interesting plaques on the outside.

Quite a different looking building to the school across the way, but some things have probably changed in the conversion to a house. The building had an extended entrance and what looks like a bell on the roof apex.
The inscription at the top reads:
D E M
Infant School
And
Lecture Hall
1864
It certainly looks more like a hall than a school in many ways.
Below this, on the entrance extension is another inscription:
"This building was bought and presented to commemorate peace after the Great War"
1914-1918
"For the education of the children of Warton"
E B Wren and E Barton are named at the bottom. An unusual type of war memorial. Maybe they hoped the following generations would do better than they had at keeping the peace, learning from their mistakes.
Finally at the bottom is a plaque saying:
1979
This building was converted to a home by
Alan and Margaret Welbank
So a building with much of its history charted on the outside. Today a modern school in the village takes primary children, and secondary pupils head for Carnforth.
