S.t James church is a fine example of mid 19th century architecture, but the church's greatest possession is the East Window, beautifully crafted in stained glass,it magnificently displays a depiction of the Crucifixion and the Ascension with starry angles in the background.
It was designed by Sir Edward Burn-Jones and made by William Morris and Co.
Staveley lies at the foot of the Kentmere valley. It is an attractive village 700 years old. The church was originally 15th century ,and the noble tower of that date still remains a superb monument to its builders.
