This campground is situated on the Bow Valley Parkway 48 kms North-West of Banff and 17 kms South-East of Lake Louise under the Shadow of Castle Mountain.
Plenty of
wildlife in the surrounding area and it would be fair to say that Grizzly & Black
Bear precautions would need to be taken. Elk/Wapiti frequent the area as shown in the photo gallery and depending on the time of the season you go there - this "can be" quite a peaceful place to visit and stay.
Its only downside is the proximity to the railway line which unfortunately runs right up through the park in any case.
There are 89 campsites here and this place does get very full at the peak of the season to very empty at the outer edges of the season.
Amenities here include:
*Flush Toilets,
*Piped Cold Water,
*Food Storage Units,
*Kitchen Shelters,
*Fire Rings & Wood (approx $6=00 per night)
*Recycling Bins
No showers exist at this campsite.
As well as wildlfe there are numerous Hiking Trails and fishing to be had in the river. Johnston Canyon walkway being approx 10 mins drive southeast along the parkway.
I think the dates it is open do vary a little but generally they are as listed.
