Fort Washington was built to defend the settlers of Losantiville, the name for the area before it was renamed as Cincinnati. Mad Anthony Wayne started north from here to fight the Battle of the Fallen Timbers near present day Toledo. The nearby highway interchange for I-71 and Route 50 is known as Fort Washington Way. This is located south of the downtown business district and the area where the newly constructed stadiums are found.
