A fabulous array of gargoyles, chimera and small ornamentations exist along the outside of Kendal's largest church by the river. A lot of carving went into making all these.

The roof line has a good number of gargoyles. None still spout water but some show where they did. They have been replaced by proper drain pipes. In between each gargoyle are many small motifs, ornaments, shapes and faces. Either side of the both sets of main doors are carved heads and figures.
The gargoyles are generally lots of fun. Not too many nasty looking ones, but some wacky shaped beasts, some with wide grins and others with mad looking, bulging eyes.
A great place to come if you want to see carved ornamentation and gargoyles.
