Helsington is a remote place with just a church and a farm. Adjacent to the church is an old school building now used as a residential centre for groups.
The church sits in a lovely location with open National Trust land around it. The views are extensive and several walks can be started from the church.
It has a graveyard, which is often full of flowers, snow drops and daffodils often cover much of the space. The outside of the church is cement render and dates back to around 1900. It's not particularly attractive, but underneath the render is study masonry which was built in 1726.
The church has an excellent stained glass window on the east wall above the alter. Around it is a painted mural by Marian Daumaret (1921), which is inspired by the magnificent view over the Kent estuary from the church.
Service times vary as it is a very small church. It is part of the Lyth Valley Team of Churches (an informal Grouping of 8 local Anglican Churches). Times are displayed in the porch, or call the Vicar (see website for details).
