As of June 2007, Nevada Solar One was generating 64MW and is the first solar thermal power plant built in the United States in more than 16 years. Nevada Solar One is about 13 miles southwest of Boulder City, Nevada off US Hwy 95. It was built by Spanish conglomerate Acciona Energy, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and Solargenix Energy. Acciona purchased a 55 percent stake in Solargenix and now owns 100 percent of the project. Nevada Solar One is unrelated to Solar One, aside from having a similar name. Nevada Solar One produces enough power for more than 40,000 households.
