The Unicorn Inn originally stood here but was replaced in 1833 by the current building. It was designed by George Webster who's architect business was just across the road in Webster's Yard. This was one of many buildings in the town built by the Websters.

The Odd Fellows were here until 1857 when the Mechanics Institute took it over. It had a variety of uses until its conversion to housing. the building still proudly bears the Odd Fellows name.
