At first I thought this was a well due to the fact there seems to be water in the back, now it seems this could be a miner’s vooga.

Hemery’s explanation of a vooga,
VOOGA A cache constructed as a cavern by medieval tinners for conceal¬ment of ingots and tools, the entrance tunnels sometimes being walled and even roofed. The Cornish tinner called this type of cache a 'fogou', the Dartmoor version being 'vooga'.

Crossing says: Vooga, The name given on the western side of the moor to small earth caves, and miners' caches

It is a hole in a bank which is just big enough to crawl into. It goes back about 12 ft. The walls are built with granite and in a curved shape at the back.
