The Quaker Tapestry has its permanent home in Kendal's historic Friends Meeting House (1816). During the winter it travels to other display locations.

Sample the delights in the award winning vegetarian Tapestry Tearooms. The National Vegetarian Society awarded the Quaker Tapestry 'Best Visitor Attraction for vegetarians' 2007.

The 77 panels give snap shots of Quaker history since the start in 1652 in the area around Kendal. Quakers were often at the forefront of social, moral and economic developments through the years and the tapestry gives a unique picture of this story.

The tapestry was created by more than 4,000 men, women and children in 15 countries between 1981 - 1996. It grew and evolved through local groups producing their own panel (to a common style) and this involvement continues today with various workshops encouraging those who are inspired by the tapestry to pick up a needle and thread.

It's a place well worth visiting and spending at least a couple of hours.
