Jekyll Island is a small barrier island on the southeast coast of Georgia. The only vehicle access to the island is along a causeway running through several miles of salt marsh. The old drawbridge, replaced in the early 1990's by a much taller bridge, is still in place, though its draw span has been removed. Parking is available at both the east and west ends of the bridge, and it is used today for fishing.
