This water tower was established in 1927 in response to the fires that had swept through the town. The tower was taken out of operation in 1985. At the base is a small adobe pumphouse that served double duty as a jail. The jail was usually used as a drunk tank.

The townspeople want to keep the pumphouse and the water tower as part of the town heritage. Recently the town council approved a project to build a park at the base of the tower with 3 water features for kids to play in, an amphitheater seating 200, and walkway that can be used for various fairs.
