A sign for the church says the United Methodist Church was established in 1852. According to the Find A Grave website (visit link), the church itself was built in 1899 by James Porter Smith, who is buried in the adjacent cemetery. The church is located in Levy County a few miles northeast of Williston and a few miles southwest of Gainesville. There are 224 interments in the cemetery.

The centerpiece of the cemetery is a headstone/monument that states the following:

Sacred to the Memory
of
Thomas Napoleon Smith
Born Apr. 4, 1850
Died Sept. 3, 1910
My loved one dear
Lies sleeping here
To me is hid his face so dear
But his sweet presence is ever near
T'will not be long til we meet
By the cross at Jesus feet
