Even with all the new malls and supermarkets that the British have imported to the country, outside of the big cities like Bangkok, Thai people still shop in the open air markets of their traditions. This market is about a mile from the school where I live & teach (10baht for ride there on motorcycle taxi). This is an evening market so don't expect to find anyone there before 4pm, but by 6pm the place is packed. All the produce, seafood (we're on the gulf), and meats are locally grown, caught, or produced. It's sure a lot more colorful than the local Winn Dixie.
