Although I don't read Thai a local businessman saw me looking at the map, pointed at the shape of a man and said "You stand here. Where you want to go?" When I didn't answer he pointed at the shilouette in the bottom corner legend and then at the one on the map and again said "You stand here. Where you want to go?" So yes, the words beside the silouhette, which are partially blocked in the close up, literally say "you stand here" the Thai equivalent to "you are here".
