"On July 17 1963 during his daring raid through Ohio, Brig Gen John H Morgan's Confederate forces burned the covered bridge that stood on this abutment. The burning of the bridge is the only known major damage done in Gallia Co during the Civil War"

This pedestrian suspension bridge is not in the Vinton Community Park and connects the park with the small business district. The old abutments of the covered bridge are still in place. This bridge was dedicated on June 23, 1990.
