Tell us about the area the post box is situated.: Catford is an area in South East London that grew up in the late 19th and early 20th century.
Catford Bridge station on the Mid Kent Line opened in 1857, and Catford Station on the Catford Loop Line opened in 1892. It was the latter which encouraged the massive expansion of residential streets of Catford. As such, housing in Catford is predominantly Edwardian in character.
Catford used to be famous for two things, the dog track and the giant fibregass cat ("The Catford Cat"). Now the dog track has closed, but the Catford Cat is still there.
