McNeils is all about beer. There is a limited menu, featuring chili and sometimes nachos, but little more. The decor is spartan to say the least, with long wooden tables and benches, bare wood floors and few decorations.

Their cask conditioned IPA is one of the best renditions of IPA I've ever had. Their excellent ESB is served using a hand pull tap and their imperial stout is outstanding.
The most interesting thing about McNeils next to the beer is the clientele. Brattleboro is a town populated with bohemians and hippies who never left the 60's. McNeils is a favorite watering hole of the pony tailed, Birkenstock wearing, hippie dippie crowd.
