Park Lane runs alongside Hyde Park and carries the main North-South road (A4202), part of the Inner
Ring Road, through London. As such a busy route, it's not the place for a relaxing stroll, and also acts, for some reason, as parking area for coaches. All in all,
it is much better to enter the adjacent park for a quiet stroll. It hosts a number of high class car showrooms (armoured BMW anyone?) and hotels.
What is now Hyde Park corner at the North end of Park Lane was once Tyburn, the place of public execution, the last of which was in 1783. In those days Park Lane was known as Tyburn Lane.
